Different steps to repair a windshield washer that does not work on a Ford Transit

You have various essential steps in order to be able to repair the washer fluid of your Ford Transit that no longer works.

Identify the washer failure:

First reflex to have, have you completed your cleaning fluid ? If so, let's see what are the causes that prevent the proper functioning of your ice washer equipment.

In the majority of cases, your ice washer equipment becomes clogged with accumulated dirt or lime, this is the main reason that would prevent your hardware from working. To resolve this issue, try unclogging your sprinklers. These small pipes are used to propel the washer fluid on the windshield of your Ford Transit. It is very likely that they are clogged, by an accumulation of limestone, or various dirt. To remedy this, you can start by trying to blow it yourself or with something more powerful, such as a bicycle pump or even ideally the tire inflator at your gas station.
If there is no difference, try to get a thin and resistant object, like a paperclip for example, which will allow access to the interior without leaving a piece. We recommend that you also use a mixture of vinegar and hot water to optimize your results.
Repeat the test, if the ice washer still does not work, maybe it is clogged at a more inaccessible level, at the level of the connecting pipe. This makes the link between the pump and the nozzle.
To reach it, you will have to open the hood of your Ford Transit:
You should identify the two pipes specific to each nozzle. Make sure to clear the interior so that they let the product pass cleanly and of course make sure they are well connected. You can repeat the same cleaning processes that we told you about in the previous paragraph. Once clean, you should be able to circulate water through it without a hitch. Then reconnect them correctly, and repeat the test. If we still have not solved the problem, you know that it is neither the jets nor the hoses on your Ford Transit.

Check the washer pump

From there, you should then check the pump. It is she who triggers the launch of the cleaning product.
You will find it next to the cleaning fluid reservoir under the hood of your Ford Transit.
First thing to do to see if it works, when you trigger the windshield washer control in your Ford Transit, there should be a pump actuation noise. If there is no noise, it means that it does not work. It must therefore be changed.
For that, nothing very complicated. First of all, you will have to remove the two screws that secure it to your Ford Transit.
Then you have to spot two power wires. They are usually black and red. You will have to disconnect them, but be careful, you will have to reconnect them correctly when finished otherwise you will create a short circuit. Small method to remember it: the red wire represents the + terminal. For example, put a piece of red tape in it to be sure to find it. Or even logical with the black tape on the terminal -. Thanks to this, you can safely reconnect the wire of the right color later.
When you have done all of this, you can remove the old pump and thus place the new pump. Reconnect the cables correctly using the trick, then screw in the two support screws.
Test the mechanism again.
Everything should be back to normal by now!
